Why I Started FILB

Matchy-matchy: tsudoku & Tuff Ryd3rz -
House of Blues, Anaheim, CA (2010)
My boyfriend tsudoku is an avid gamer and is even in his own clan, Tactical Gaming, Legion of Honor, where he has made terrific friends who we're most likely going to meet in early 2011 who we were supposed to meet but they stood us up when we make made our way to the East Coast for a wedding. That'll be a whole other blog entry, of course. Nope.com

When tsudoku and I started dating, I couldn't understand why he had to have his gaming time everyday from 5:00 to 6:30 PM, or sometimes even longer. We even got into fights over the price of games, our lack of quality time, and I even threw in the "You just lost your chance at THIS ACHIEVEMENT, buddy!!" card.

After 3 years of dating, I finally realized that gaming was going to be a part of our relationship and like it or not, it wasn't going to go anywhere. The same could be said about my obsession with Steve Madden shoes and cosmetics and he's learned to accept that as well. I figure, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. So, I asked him to create an Xbox Silver account for me (because it's free and because I have no intention to play online against other players), began downloading different games from Xbox Live Arcade (XBLA), and have even started buying my own games (Street Fighter IV being my first).

Six years later (and still no wedding ring), I've learn to enjoy the downtime, mental strategies and challenges that gaming offers. I've also learned that there is no way I will ever be able to master a first- or third-person shooter game and am much better off sticking with puzzle platform and SIMS-type games.

Now that gaming is considered part of our quality time, I've decided to take what I've learned, liked, and disliked about my gaming experiences and share them via blogging. Of course, Fake It Like Bacon isn't strictly limited to gaming, but if you're a regular reader, then you've probably figured that out by now :)

Thanks for stopping by and I hope to one day work up the courage to buy a Gold account and start playing online.
